MY NAME IS JAME NICOLL
I was born in New Zealand in 1978 and now live in the sunny and steep riding world of Nelson NZ for around 7 months of the year.
In 2010 I had a massive burns accident in remote Patagonia while building MTB trails - from a coma to a long hard recovery many things have changed ( Radio NZ Postcast - Survival of the Fittest). Since 2012, I've been traveling the world racing mountain bikes in the Enduro discipline, first as a privateer and then as a paid athlete, with a proud 8th in the world series for 2013 and some memorable podiums along the way. After finishing a team contract in 2015 I needed to find myself and my passion again, still in bikes but a new angle. I now have my own collection of amazing sponsors and with Santa Cruz Bicycles I'm lucky to be one of their men in the field to help capture adventure and people's lives in connection to bikes and the outdoors - this is my job and my passion. I organise and lead many of these trips, I still race but with a different approach... sometimes.
My office and home in NZ is a red 1960 Bedford J4 school bus with solar panels for living, a hot shower on the outside under the stars and a warm wood stove inside. I park on a friend's land looking out over the sea – I feel lucky to live simply. I have lived the last five years half in France and half in NZ, now that has all changed and I am really enjoying developing more and more fulfilling community activation projects here at home, projects that my awesome sponsors are behind 100%.
Pre-racing I had a background leading small teams for the NZ Government/ Department of Conservation in very remote rugged backcountry locations, either flying in by helicopter or hiking in to repair mountain huts and clear trails of wind fallen trees with chainsaws.
Feel free to ask me questions along the way and enjoy my journey, thanks for your support.
PERSONAL
I take photos, I write magazine articles, I post pictures and stories on IG, I test product for my sponsors, I attend events, I create events.
Social media...It’s a hard one, it’s partly how I get paid and my job now is essentially marketing. Marketing is not what I would have set out to study... but study it I have, I like to think I wouldn’t be involved with it all if I wasn’t doing this job, my mental mission is to try and be legitimate, real, I am unique and my passions and my personality are somewhat fringe and so with these qualities I don't aim be at the top of any social media ratings, going viral or becoming an IG 'top of the pops'... but I hope that I can reach people, people who care, like me, about nature, the world, and think... think about life and what we are here for… so what’s your mission?
Finding a better connection to myself, sitting still, listening...? Where to next and what next? These are good questions and I ask myself these often, I don’t know, but I do set my sails with an open sea and follow those shining stars..

To say that Jamie is our resident adventurer or extreme multi-day events guy would be far too restrictive. After a youth spent racing XC, twice making the selection for the New Zealand world’s team, to a successful career in enduro, bikes have always played a critical role in his life. From his home in New Zealand - where he lives in a 1960 Bedford bus (which he converted), Jamie spends much of his year on the move. His appetite for exploration has taken him to places most of us can only dream about. While his life has seen its fair share of ups and downs, Jamie’s mindset and passion for bikes continue to inspire others to hit the trails and explore. "
